For Crying Out Love, the book, became available April 1, 2026. It is a book that most are reading slowly and reflectively. It is a book to ponder. That is why it is only now, in June, that I have begun receiving reactions and resonances to every part of the book and the book as a whole.
I could not be more grateful and humbled by the responses that I am receiving to For Crying Out Love. The personal stories from readers have moved me. I’ve heard stories associated with what chapters resonated the most with readers, and why readers are passing the book along to acquaintances who are facing life challenges the book may be useful with. My dearest hope for the book is that it will be useful to people in the midst of ongoing suffering. Slowly but surely it is reaching those people. Wow!
The members of a faith sharing or prayer group that I belonged to for many years recently came together again to celebrate For Crying Out Love and my writing it. They shared how the book touched them as well as a yummy huge cake with a delicious replica of the book on top. These were the people I met and became friends with in a dark time described in the book. It was a time when I thought I was too far along in life to have new friends enter. In that dark time, they affirmed the two major foundations of For Crying Out Love, how it is not possible to differentiate love from Love working in one’s life, and how prayer heals the way love heals. They affirmed those foundations again when we recently celebrated For Crying Out Love together. I was overjoyed I could thank them again as a group for their care for me, years ago and currently.
